Born in 1982, Onika Tanya Maraj, or better known as Nicki Minaj (her stage name), is an American rap artist, songwriter, and actress. Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, her family moved to New York when she was five years old. The bizarre artists that she has become today are the by-product of a troubled and broken home. Her father was an abusive drug addict that even reportedly tried to kill her mother by burning down the family home. Also, as a result, Nicki developed multiple personalities to help her cope with the hardships of her reality. She has stated before that she prefers to live in fantasy.
